This two-piece gilt brass button features a spread-wing eagle perched over an anchor with surrounding stars. The backmark reads * WATERBURY BUTTON CO. * with stars. Measuring 24mm in diameter, it retains good detail with light wear consistent with age. A fine example of mid-19th century American naval uniform insignia suitable for collectors of Civil War militaria and antique buttons.
