This original World War II Victory Medal was authorized by Congress in 1945 and awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who served between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946. The obverse shows Liberty holding a broken sword above a defeated helmet, symbolizing victory over tyranny, while the reverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms message and the years 1941–1945. This example retains its original multicolored ribbon with bar pin clasp.
