This vintage metal Saint Christopher medal from the 1940s features the saint carrying the Christ Child across water with a vintage automobile in the background and the inscription “Behold Saint Christopher Then Go Your Way in Safety.” The reverse shows an arched view of Old Mission San Juan Capistrano, California, with its bell wall and fountain marked 1776. Cast in base metal alloy with aged patina, it represents the devotional travel tokens popular among midcentury motorists and California mission visitors.
