This lot is a letter sent by well-known stage and film performer, George Fawcett around 1905. The letter was written on engraved letterhead promoting the Grand Opera House in St. Paul, Minnesota and the Bijou Opera House in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fawcett and his stock theater company were known to have performed in these venues, so this letter was probably written during one of these runs. A key part of the troupe was his wife, actress Percy Haswell. The letter makes reference to a stage work being “a great vehicle for my wife.”
