This c.1900 Cascarets advertising pill tin is an ornate Art Nouveau brass and enamel box produced for Sterling Remedy Co. of Chicago. The hinged design features raised scrollwork framing cobalt blue enamel lettering, with a richly gilt interior. Cascarets were heavily marketed as “Candy Cathartics,” and this tin represents one of the more decorative early 20th-century promotional versions. It is crafted from brass with embossed floral borders and retains traces of its original finish.
