c.1910 P&O S.N. Co London to Colombo Unused Steamship Luggage Label Vintage

This lot is an original c.1910 luggage label from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O S.N. Co.), one of the premier British passenger and mail shipping lines of the early 20th century. The label is printed for the London to Colombo route and was designed to be affixed to a trunk or package end. It remains unused, with a preprinted space for the passenger’s name and a large “X” printed diagonally across the design as part of the original layout. Such labels were used for organizing baggage on long voyages spanning multiple climate zones. This example is printed on tan paper stock and measures approximately 4.25″ tall by 7″ wide. Minor edge nick at top as shown.
