This lot is an original vintage luggage label from the Whately Hall Hotel in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. Whately Hall is a quaint 17th century hotel in the historical town of Banbury. It is situated on the River Cherwell in Oxfordshire, at the edge of the Cotswolds. The hotel’s claim to fame is that Jonathan Swift, the famous author of Gulliver’s Travels, often stayed there. In fact, it was a group of family tombstones from the Gulliver family located in a nearby cemetery that inspired the name of Swift’s famous traveller.
The label has a very crisp shield design with wine barrels and a crown or bishop’s hat. The label is approximately 4″ tall by 2.75″ wide.
This vintage luggage label is in excellent condition. Please review the included photos of the actual item to make a complete determination of its condition.
