This set of carved bovine bone clothing buttons dates to around c.1900 and features a radial floral sunburst design carved into natural bone. The carved petals radiate from a recessed center channel that holds the two sew-through holes. Bovine bone garment buttons of this type were widely used on coats, sweaters, and heavier garments in the late Victorian and early 20th century period.
