This is an original mid-19th century eagle button measuring approximately 23mm in diameter. Likely produced during the Civil War era, this button features a gilt brass face with a spread-wing eagle over a lined background and a plain tinned iron back with a drilled wire loop shank.

Although it is not a regulation U.S. military issue, the design is typical of militia, patriotic, or civilian use during the 1850s–1860s period.
