Original Civil War–era U.S. Infantry officer’s button manufactured by Scovill Mfg. Co. of Waterbury, Connecticut. The face features a spread-wing eagle with a shield bearing the letter “I” for Infantry. This is a one-piece, gilt brass button with a loop shank and clearly marked back.
