Description
This is an original post–Civil War U.S. military cuff button featuring a spread-wing eagle clutching arrows and olive branches, with a prominent “I” for Infantry on the shield. It was manufactured by D. Evans & Co. of Attleboro, Massachusetts — a noted maker of military buttons during the 19th century.
– Measures approximately 15mm in diameter
– Two-piece gilt brass construction
– Wire loop shank is intact and undamaged
– Backmark reads “* D. EVANS & CO. * ATTLEBORO MASS”
– Excellent detail on eagle and shield
– Minor surface wear consistent with age
