1962 Marine Corps Detachment One in Pleiku Vietnam Casual Photos (Lot of 65)

This lot is a one-of-a-kind group of personal photos taken by a Marine stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam in 1962. Many of the photos have contemporary notations written by the Marine taking or seen in the photos. The location of Pleiku is established by a direct reference to that location in the Marine’s notes on the back of the photos. The date for the photos is determined from the images of the camp sign for Detachment One of the U.S. Marines. Detachment One was the first group of marines to set foot in Vietnam during the war. They were deployed to Pleiku as part of an Army radio unit. The photos include many different images such as military buddies, marines with rifles, skinny dipping, street scenes, haircuts, children, and more. All the photos are 5.5″ x 3.5″.

NOTE: Any lack of focus in these photos is present in the original image. Additionally, all the photos are somewhat curved as shown in the last attached image.
