Jeanette MacDonald (1903–1965) was an American actress and operatic soprano, best known for her musical films during Hollywood’s Golden Age. She gained fame in the 1930s, particularly for her on-screen pairing with Nelson Eddy in films like Naughty Marietta (1935) and Rose-Marie (1936), where their romantic duets became iconic. MacDonald’s collaborations with director Ernst Lubitsch in earlier films also showcased her charm and comedic talent. Renowned for her elegant voice, she enjoyed a successful concert and opera career as well.
