Description
The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy was a politically charged and socially conscious alternative hip-hop duo formed in the early 1990s. The group consisted of Michael Franti, providing vocals and spoken word, and Rono Tse, handling production and instrumentation. Hailing from San Francisco, the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy was known for their fusion of hip-hop with various genres, including industrial and punk influences. Their debut album, “Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury” (1992), critically examined social and political issues, addressing topics such as racism, media manipulation, and systemic inequality. The standout track, “Television, the Drug of the Nation,” became an anthem of the era.
