Les Négresses Vertes was a French music group that emerged in the late 1980s, blending various genres such as punk, alternative rock, and traditional French and Mediterranean music. Formed in 1987, the band’s name, which translates to “The Green Negresses,” reflected their multicultural and eclectic style. Known for their energetic and charismatic performances, Les Négresses Vertes achieved commercial success with their 1988 album “Mlah,” which featured the hit single “Zobi la Mouche.” The band’s music often incorporated accordion, violin, and other folk instruments, creating a distinctive sound that resonated with audiences.
