Description
Original 1930s real photo postcard (RPPC) featuring Prince Carl Johan of Sweden, the youngest son of King Gustaf VI Adolf. This formal studio portrait captures the prince as a young man, dressed in a suit and tie, in a classic sepia tone typical of the period.
The reverse side of the postcard is labeled “PRINS CARL JOHAN” and published by Axel Eliassons Konstförlag A.B. Stockholm, a well-known Swedish publisher of royal portraits and high-quality postcards. It also bears the “Svensk Tillverkning” (Swedish Manufacturing) mark and a series number 137.
– Size: 5.25 x 3.25 inches
– Signature on front: Possibly the photographer’s signature, difficult to fully decipher
– Unposted postcard
Prince Carl Johan later became Count of Wisborg after renouncing his royal titles to marry a commoner. He was the last surviving great-grandchild of Queen Victoria.
A rare collectible for enthusiasts of Swedish royalty, European history, or vintage photographic postcards.
