This is an original 1937 University of Michigan commencement program from Ann Arbor, bound in black leather with braided leather ties and embossed decoration featuring the Burton Memorial Tower and the words “Michigan 1937.” The volume measures 6″ tall by 4.5″ wide and includes commencement schedules, aerial campus photographs, and complete listings of graduates by college. Among the graduates recorded in this volume are Benjamin Aaron, noted labor law scholar and federal labor board member; Willis Hawkins, Lockheed aircraft engineer and later company president; Jerome Wiesner, MIT provost and president; and John P. Coursey, U.S. Marine Corps aviator and brigadier general. This elegant format was issued for the June 18–19, 1937 commencement week.
