c.1895 Engraved Receipts Shelbyville Michigan Citizens Mutual Horseshoe Lot of 4

This lot is a group of four different receipts from the 1890s to the early 1900s. The group includes:

• An 1883 receipt for $8.20. The engraved image shows a schooner ship, a horseshoe, and a rising sun. It is approximately 3.25″ tall by 8″ wide. It has been folded into quarters and the folds have small separations. The paper has light stains, smudges, edge wear, and toning.
• An 1883 receipt for 48 cents. The engraved image shows a rocky lake landscape and a flower peeking out from a rolled paper. It is approximately 3″ tall by 8.25″ wide. It has been folded with multiple creases. The paper has light stains, smudges, edge wear, and toning.
• An 1883 receipt for 75 cents. The engraved image shows a marshy scene with a river flowing into the distance. It is approximately 3.25″ tall by 7.5″ wide. It has been folded with multiple creases. The paper has light stains, smudges, edge wear, and toning.
• A 1904 receipt for $2.80. This is perhaps the most interesting. It is a receipt from Citizens’ Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Kent, Allegan and Ottawa Counties in Michigan. It has several messages of encouragement to homeowners about dealing with chimneys and stovepipes. The engraved image shows a young woman carrying a sheaf of wheat on a rocky ledge. It is approximately 4.25″ tall by 8.25″ wide. It has been folded with multiple creases. The paper has light stains, smudges, edge wear, and toning.
