1940s Converted Brooch “LP England” Prong-Set Austrian Crystals and Purple Gems

This lot is a brilliant crystal-encrusted brooch that started life as a hair barrette and at some point, part of the clip was removed and pin posts were soldered on. The large clear center stones are surrounded by fiery smaller clear crystals and purple pear-cut crystals. Every crystal is individually prong-set. Created in the 1940s, the piece has a very retro Art Deco look with its angular design. It is 1.5″ tall by 2.75″ wide. The large center stones are 3/8″ in diameter.

The piece is marked “LP England”, but information about that particular maker is not readily available.

None of the gems are missing, cracked, or damaged in any way. The back has a rollover clasp in full working condition. The entire piece is in excellent vintage condition with only one detracting feature. The person soldering the pin posts got a little aggressive with the liquid solder, so the excess spread out from the bottom of the pin posts. This issue doesn’t affect the front of the brooch at all.

This piece is startlingly beautiful and the photos don’t come close to conveying the fire of these crystals.
