Vintage 1950s Japanese compact powder case depicting the Kinkaku-ji Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. The compact has never been used to carry powder. The lid features a detailed enamel and lacquer inlay of the temple framed by a silver-tone floral border. Inside is a mirror and the original “Lovely” powder puff with its sifter. A representative example of postwar Japanese export vanity ware.
