Instituted in 1977, the United States Armed Forces Humanitarian Service Medal honors military personnel who took part in humanitarian operations such as disaster relief or rescue missions. This full-size example dates to the late 1970s and features a bronze medallion with clasped hands on the front and an oak branch reverse reading “For Humanitarian Service United States Armed Forces.” It retains its original multicolor ribbon and early brooch fastener.
