Description
This lot is a scarce antique badge for the 28th annual convention of the Michigan Building and Loan Association League held in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 7-8, 1915. The Michigan Building and Loan Association League was an organization formed to support and represent building and loan associations (B&Ls) in the state of Michigan. These associations, common in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, were financial institutions focused on helping individuals save money and finance home ownership.
The badge is divided into two parts. The top part is a metal name holder which, in this case, holds the name of Christopher Sclenker. The bottom part of the badge has a silk ribbon promoting the conference along with its date and location. The badge is approximately 5″ tall by 2″ wide.
