1971 Telephone Pioneers Sierra Pacific Chapter Salesman Sample Pin Set of 8

This lot includes eight sequentially produced prototype pins created for the 1971 New Year pin of the Sierra Pacific Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. These pins appear to have been prepared as a salesman’s or manufacturer’s sample series, showing the production stages from the plain blank base through the addition of each enamel color and finishing with the final sealed version under clear Lucite. The set documents the pin-making process used by this chapter, which was part of a national volunteer organization of telephone industry employees dedicated to improving communication access for people with disabilities. Each pin is rectangular with standard butterfly clasps on back, and the final piece has developed the characteristic amber hue of aged Lucite.
