This c.1950s Vanguard “For Merit” medal and ribbon bar set was produced in Attleboro, Massachusetts by Vanguard Industries, a longtime maker of U.S. military and fraternal insignia. The gilt bronze cross features a laurel wreath surrounding the words “FOR MERIT” and is suspended from a ribbon of red, blue, and yellow stripes with a matching pin-back ribbon bar. The reverse of both pieces is stamped “VANGUARD.” This complete matching set is clean and well preserved.
