Description

This lot is a scarce antique badge for the 27th Regular Session of the Grand Lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen (A.O.U.W.) held in Detroit, Michigan on September 11-12, 1906. The A.O.U.W. sought to provide financial security to working-class individuals through mutual aid and insurance benefits. It combined fraternal rituals, social camaraderie, and practical insurance solutions.

The badge is divided into three parts. The top part is a pewter metal embossed image of a wolverine. The middle part of the badge has a silk ribbon promoting the convention along with its date and location. The bottom part of the badge is a heavy brass medal bearing the name of the association. The badge is approximately 5″ tall by 2″ wide.
