Description
Pair of vintage c.1940s enamel pins issued by the Air Force Association (AFA), the organization founded in 1946 to support the newly formed U.S. Air Force. The lot includes a “Life Member” pin and a standard AFA wings pin, both displaying the blue, white, and red star-and-circle emblem derived from the wartime Army Air Forces insignia. Each pin is constructed of metal with hard enamel and clutch backs. The Life Member example is marked “r 1/10 10K,” indicating gold-filled construction with a lowercase r hallmark.
