Born in 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, Sedaka first achieved fame in the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits like “Calendar Girl” and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” Renowned for his catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics, he also penned numerous successful songs for other artists. Sedaka’s career saw a revival in the 1970s with chart-toppers like “Laughter in the Rain.”
