This lot is a very scarce black and white halftone photo card promoting the work of Father Paul Schulte, a Catholic priest known as “The Flying Priest” or “The Flying Padre.” The photo is autographed by him.

Paul Schulte, known as “The Flying Priest,” was a pioneering German Roman Catholic missionary and aviator who combined his passion for flying with his religious vocation. Born on November 15, 1896, Schulte was ordained as a priest in 1925 and soon realized the potential of aviation for missionary work, particularly in remote areas. He founded the MIVA (Missionary International Vehicular Association) to support transportation needs for missions. Schulte’s efforts dramatically improved access to isolated communities, enabling the delivery of medical supplies, food, and spiritual support. His innovative approach earned him international recognition and left a lasting legacy in the field of missionary aviation. Paul Schulte passed away on November 6, 1975, but his contributions to both aviation and missionary work continue to be celebrated.
