c.1908 Burdick Street Kalamazoo Michigan Star Bargain House and Hotel Postcard
Prev Next

This lot is a divided back postcard printed between 1907 and 1909. This hand-tinted card is an interesting view because it pictures the Star Bargain House and the Burdick Hotel in the foreground on the right side of the street. In 1909, a fire started in the Star Bargain House and quickly spread to the adjacent Burdick Hotel. The hotel, which had only reopened in 1907 following a complete renovation, was totally destroyed.

Other businesses seen in the image include:

  • Detroit Cash and Credit
  • 5-Cent Theater
  • Drycleaning
  • Eyeglasses

All our items are kept in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.

The card is in good condition. It has a small crease in the upper right corner. It also has a couple scratches which are only seen when held at an angle to the light. The back has some light stains and light impressions of an erased pencil notation. Please review the included photos of the actual item to make a complete determination of its condition.
