Bobby Layne, born on October 19, 1926, was an American football quarterback who left a lasting impact on the game. Known for his fierce competitiveness and strong leadership skills, Layne played in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons from 1948 to 1962. He achieved significant success during his career, winning three NFL championships with the Detroit Lions in the 1950s. Layne’s gritty style of play and ability to rally his team in crucial moments earned him the reputation of being a clutch performer. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
