Don Drysdale, born on July 23, 1936, in Van Nuys, California, was a legendary professional baseball pitcher who played his entire career with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1956 to 1969. Drysdale was known for his imposing presence on the mound, standing at 6’6″ and possessing a powerful fastball. He was an integral part of the dominant Dodgers teams of the 1960s, which included Sandy Koufax, forming one of the most formidable pitching duos in baseball history. Drysdale was a fierce competitor, known for his durability and remarkable ability to pitch complete games. He won the Cy Young Award in 1962 and led the league in strikeouts three times. Drysdale’s remarkable achievements and contributions to the Dodgers’ success earned him a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.
