Don Larsen was a professional baseball player who is best known for pitching the only perfect game in World Series history. He was born on August 7, 1929, in Michigan City, Indiana, and passed away on January 1, 2020, in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Larsen played in the major leagues for 14 seasons, debuting with the St. Louis Browns in 1953 and retiring after the 1967 season. He spent most of his career as a pitcher for the New York Yankees, where he was a key member of several championship teams. Larsen’s most memorable moment came in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, when he pitched a perfect game against the Brooklyn Dodgers. He retired all 27 batters he faced and helped lead the Yankees to a championship that year. Larsen was named the World Series MVP for his historic performance. Over the course of his career, Larsen had a record of 81-91 with a 3.78 ERA and 849 strikeouts. This lot is a Don Larsen baseball card #67 produced by Bowman in 1955. If the title includes a reference to condition, it is based on the same standards of grading as the professional grading companies. If the condition is shown as a range, we are saying that, in our opinion, the card would receive a grade somewhere within that range.
This card has wear appropriate to its age. It has a couple scratches that can be seen when the card is turned at the right angle. May have corner bumps, edge wear, scuffs, stains, or smudges. Please review the included photos of the actual item to make a complete determination of its condition.
