Don Larsen, born on August 7, 1929, was a Major League Baseball pitcher who achieved legendary status for his remarkable performance in the 1956 World Series. Playing for the New York Yankees, Larsen accomplished what no other pitcher had done before or since: he pitched a perfect game in Game 5 against the Brooklyn Dodgers. This extraordinary feat remains one of the greatest achievements in baseball history. Larsen’s flawless performance included retiring all 27 batters he faced without allowing a single hit, walk, or run. His incredible control and ability to keep the opposing hitters off-balance throughout the game showcased his pitching prowess. Larsen’s perfect game helped the Yankees win the World Series that year, and he was named the Series MVP.
This lot is a Don Larsen baseball card #175 produced by Topps in 1957.
