Eddie Mathews, often referred to as “Eddie” or “Eddie Mathews,” was a highly respected and accomplished Major League Baseball player. Born on October 13, 1931, in Texas, Mathews is best known for his time with the Milwaukee Braves, where he played the majority of his career. A powerful and skilled third baseman, Mathews was a key contributor to the Braves’ success during the 1950s and 1960s. He possessed exceptional hitting ability, displaying both power and consistency at the plate. Mathews hit an impressive 512 home runs during his career, solidifying his place as one of the greatest power hitters of his era. Defensively, Mathews was known for his strong arm and solid fielding skills, earning him respect as a complete player. He was an integral part of the Braves’ World Series championship in 1957 and made numerous All-Star appearances throughout his career. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978
