Eddie Murray is a former American professional baseball player who achieved remarkable success as a first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB). Born in 1956, Murray played 21 seasons in the league, primarily with the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Renowned for his consistent hitting and exceptional power, Murray became one of the most prolific switch-hitters in baseball history. He amassed over 3,000 hits and 500 home runs, making him one of only six players to achieve both milestones. Murray’s ability to drive in runs was also noteworthy, as he recorded over 1,900 RBIs throughout his career. Known for his calm demeanor and strong work ethic, Murray was a key contributor to the Orioles’ success in the 1980s, helping the team win the World Series in 1983. He earned numerous accolades, including three Silver Slugger Awards and two-time American League Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. This lot is an Eddie Murray rookie baseball card #36 produced by Topps in 1978.
