Johnny Podres, born on September 30, 1932, in Witherbee, New York, was a professional baseball player who had a notable career as a pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). Podres is best known for his remarkable performance in the 1955 World Series, where he pitched a shutout in Game 7 to lead the Brooklyn Dodgers to their first World Series championship in franchise history. Podres’ Game 7 victory is still remembered as one of the most clutch pitching performances in World Series history.
