Orlando Cepeda was a professional baseball player who played primarily as a first baseman for several teams in the major leagues. He was born on September 17, 1937, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Cepeda made his major league debut in 1958 with the San Francisco Giants and went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals during his career. He was known for his powerful right-handed swing, which helped him hit 379 home runs and collect over 1,300 RBIs over the course of his career. Cepeda was named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1958 and was a seven-time All-Star selection. He also won the National League Most Valuable Player award in 1967 while playing for the Cardinals. Cepeda was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. This lot is an Orlando Cepeda baseball card #435 produced by Topps in 1961. If the title includes a reference to condition, it is based on the same standards of grading as the professional grading companies. If the condition is shown as a range, we are saying that, in our opinion, the card would receive a grade somewhere within that range. Â
This vintage card has wear appropriate to its age. It has a pin poke on Cepeda’s chin. It doesn’t go through the card. May have scuffs, edge wear, bumped corners, light stains, or may be off-center. Please review the included photos of the actual items to make a complete determination of their condition.
