Prev Next

Taurocol is a synthetic derivative of one of the primary bile acids, taurocholic acid. It has been used as a diagnostic aid in the medical field, particularly in the diagnosis of liver function and gallbladder disorders. It has also been used as a laxative for the treatment of constipation in some parts of the world.

This lot is a vintage blotter advertising Taurocol which was billed as “a combination of bile salts, taurocholat and glychcholate of sodium (to stimulate peristalsis and relieve constipation by physiological means).” The product was manufactured by the Paul Plessner Company in Detroit, Michigan.

All our items are kept in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.
