Taurocol is a synthetic derivative of one of the primary bile acids, taurocholic acid. It has been used as a diagnostic aid in the medical field, particularly in the diagnosis of liver function and gallbladder disorders. It has also been used as a laxative for the treatment of constipation in some parts of the world.
This lot is a vintage blotter advertising Taurocol which was billed as “a combination of bile salts, taurocholat and glychcholate of sodium (to stimulate peristalsis and relieve constipation by physiological means).” The product was manufactured by the Paul Plessner Company in Detroit, Michigan.
This blotter is in fair condition. It is unused but has several light creases which don’t adversely effect the visual impact of the front of the card. It has edge wear, foxing, and smudges. Please review the included photos to make a complete determination of its condition.
