1885 Illegal Distilling Arrest Warrant North Carolina Including Billed Expenses

This lot is an arrest warrant from Tryon City, North Carolina issued in 1885 for Ben Blanton to face the charge of Illegal Distilling. The document includes an expense list assessed for the process of finding, apprehending, housing, and guarding the prisoner. Of special note are a couple of entries for boarding an officer and his horse. The document also has some identifiable names including Thomas Keogh (well-known lawman and Republican National Committee member), H. C. Goodell, and Lee R. Fisher.

The document is approximately 15″ tall by 9″ wide and is slightly more yellow than the photos show. It will be shipped folded in half as it was found.
