This lot is a letter sent from William A. Gallagher, well-known Australian comedian. The letter informs the recipient that Gallagher is no longer a partner of Mr. Evans and is now partnered with Harry P. Griffin. The two men had a vaudeville comedy act as Irish Knockabout Comedians in the show The Battle of Manala. Knockabout comedy was popular in the vaudeville era and incorporated slapstick, pratfalls, and other physical humor.
The letter also suggests that Griffin is a far better man than Evans and that Gallagher and Griffin can provide a great show with different acts. It request a contract as soon as possible.
The letter is on Gallagher and Griffin letterhead and is approximately 11″ tall by 8.5″ wide. it is signed by William Gallagher.
