1864 War Department General Orders No. 15 Civil War Era Staff Borrowing Rule

This lot is a single-page General Order No. 15 from the Adjutant General’s Office in the United States War Department. It was issued on January 11, 1864. The order prohibits officers from taking bodyguards and orderlies from departments other than their own. The order was issued by the command of Major General Halleck and communicated by E. D. Townsend, Assistant Adjutant General. The order is approximately 7.25″ tall by 5″ wide.

This vintage general order is in very good condition with wear appropriate to its age. It may have smudges, stains, toning, and fading typical of old paper items. It also has a very small tear near the top of the right edge and has to small holes so it can be kept in a two-post binder.
