This lot is a group of pages taken from bound books published in the 1860s which list the outcomes of general court martial trials of soldiers in the Department of the Potomac and the Department of the Cumberland during the period of the Indian Wars. The pages are approximately 7″ tall by 4.75″ wide. The lot includes four items as listed below:
- Head-Quarters Department of the Cumberland General Orders, No. 78 – November 9th, 1867
- This document consists of six bound pages outlining the charges, verdicts, and sentences for Recruit John McCormick, Recruit John Rice, Recruit John Cushman, Recruit James Dunbar, Private John Mitchell, and recruit William Reddall.
- These pages appeared as pages 411-416 in the volume “General Court Martial Orders: Dept. of the Cumberland 1866-1870”.
- The document is in excellent condition with no creases or tears and only minor foxing. The bound edge is still visible.
- Head-Quarters Department of the Cumberland General Orders, No. 80 – November 27th, 1867
- This document consists of six bound pages outlining the charges, verdicts, and sentences for Private Simon Oberdorfer, Private Samuel Wild, Private John Brighton, 1st Sergeant M. V. B. Hazen, Private Casper Haigler, and Recruit William Hunter.
- These pages appeared as pages 417-422 in the volume “General Court Martial Orders: Dept. of the Cumberland 1866-1870”.
- The document is in very good condition with no creases or tears, yellowing of the pages, and only minor foxing. The bound edge is still visible.

- This document consists of eight bound pages outlining the charges, verdicts, and sentences for Corporal Frank Vanderpool, Private John Brady, Private Thomas Lawles, Private Collins Newell, Private Thomas Burke, and Private James Convoy.
- These pages appeared an unknown compilation of military trial proceedings for the Department of the Potomac.
- The document is in excellent condition with no creases or tears, and only minor wrinkling and foxing. The bound edge is still visible.
- Head-Quarters Department of the Cumberland, General Orders, No. 79 – November 23, 1867
- This document is a single-sided page which outlines the general order that soldiers appearing at court martial proceedings may not wear fatigues and must be provided with full dress uniforms and side arms.
- This page appeared in an unknown compilation of general orders for the Department of the Cumberland
- The document is in excellent condition with no creases or tears and only minor foxing. The bound edge of the page was trimmed at some point in its long life.
