This lot is an extremely scarce program with the concert schedule for the 1899 May Festival Series, an annual group of concerts hosted by the University Musical Society on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 1880, the University Musical Society is one of the oldest performing arts presenters in the country. Their concerts have brought many of the world’s finest music and dance performers to the University of Michigan campus for almost 150 years. The 1899 concert schedule included four performances  on three days, May 11-13, 1899. The concerts showcased these great performers:

  • George Hamlin
  • Marcella Sembrich
  • Sara Anderson
  • Josephine Jacoby
  • Anna Lohbiller
  • Myron Whitney, Jr.

The program is comprised of one 20.5″ wide sheet folded in half to create four pages that are 13.25″ tall by 10.25″ wide.

This antique concert program is in good condition with wear appropriate to its age. It has several small tears in its edges, primarily on the right edge which includes a couple larger tears. It also has stains, edge wear, smudges, and toning as expected of an old paper item. Please review the included photos of the actual item to make a complete determination of its condition.
