1890s Sterling Iron and Railway Company Blank Scrip Certificate for Stock Shares

This lot is a blank, unused scrip certificate for the Sterling Iron and Railway Company. The Sterling Iron and Railway Company operated an iron works in southeast New York State from the late 1700’s until 1920. The railroad took finished product from the mines and furnaces at Lakeville to the Erie Railroad at Sloatsburg.. This scrip certificate was printed for use during the mid-1890s and entitled the holder to one share of company stock for every $100 invested. The scrip certificate is approximately 6″ tall by 10.5″ wide.
