Carlinhos Brown, born Antonio Carlos Santos de Freitas on November 23, 1962, is a Brazilian musician, singer, and songwriter renowned for his vibrant contributions to Afro-Brazilian music and world music. Hailing from Salvador, Bahia, Brown is a multi-instrumentalist known for his proficiency in percussion. He gained international recognition for his energetic and eclectic musical style, which fuses traditional Brazilian rhythms, reggae, funk, and other global influences. Carlinhos Brown has released numerous solo albums, and his work often reflects a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Bahia. Beyond his solo career, he has collaborated with artists from various genres and participated in global musical projects.
