EMF, short for Ecstasy, Motherf***er, was a British alternative rock and dance-pop band that gained international recognition in the early 1990s. Formed in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, in 1989, the band consisted of James Atkin (vocals), Ian Dench (guitar, keyboards), Derry Brownson (keyboards), Zach Foley (bass), and Mark Decloedt (drums). EMF’s breakthrough came with their hit single “Unbelievable” in 1990, which topped charts in multiple countries and became an anthem of the early ’90s alternative dance scene. The band’s debut album, “Schubert Dip,” achieved commercial success and included other notable tracks like “Lies” and “I Believe.” EMF’s sound blended rock, dance, and electronic elements.
