Jamie Blake grew up in Chicago before moving to Washington DC in 1993, where she attended The American University. She left for New York in 1994 to complete her studies at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She was signed by A&M Records in 1996. Her self-titled debut album Jamie Blake, was released in August 1997.
