Pirates of the Mississippi was a country music band that gained prominence in the early 1990s. Formed in the late 1980s, the group comprised Bill McCorvey (vocals, guitar) and Rich Alves (vocals, guitar). Hailing from Mississippi, their name was a nod to the state’s rich riverine heritage. Pirates of the Mississippi achieved commercial success with their self-titled debut album in 1990, which included hits like “Feed Jake.” The band’s music often blended traditional country with a touch of Southern rock, and they were praised for their tight harmonies and heartfelt lyrics.
