Soul Family Sensation was a British alternative rock band that emerged in the late 1980s. Comprising members from the influential band The Housemartins, including Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway, Soul Family Sensation explored a more psychedelic and experimental sound. Their debut album, “New Wave,” released in 1991, showcased a fusion of rock, funk, and soul influences, with standout tracks like “I Don’t Even Know If I Should Call You Baby.” The band’s music exhibited a departure from the pop-oriented sound of The Housemartins, delving into a more expansive and eclectic sonic landscape. Despite critical acclaim, Soul Family Sensation did not achieve widespread commercial success, and the band’s activity was relatively short-lived.
