Urban Dance Squad was a Dutch alternative rock and rap metal band that gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Formed in 1986 in Utrecht, Netherlands, the band’s unique sound blended elements of rock, punk, funk, and hip-hop, making them pioneers in the fusion of genres. Urban Dance Squad’s energetic performances and socially conscious lyrics, often rapped by frontman Rudeboy (Patrick Tilon), set them apart in the music landscape. Their breakthrough album, “Mental Floss for the Globe” (1989), featuring the hit single “Deeper Shade of Soul,” showcased their dynamic style.
